Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming reality and an increasing number of connected devices must collect and consume data across the network. In this context, the Fifth-Generation Mobile Networks (5G) comes as an enabling technology, since it includes the IoT concepts in its design and it has the ambition to endure a range of services and applications. Indeed, the relation between IoT and 5G is symbiotic, since 5G offers an infrastructure that allows paving the way for new IoT applications (such as e-Health or Internet of Healthcare Things &#8211; IoHT) and, at the same pace, IoT presents new challenges to be faced in 5G, such as the requirement to support the estimated 1,000-fold increase in mobile\/fixed data traffic while promoting a reduction in energy usage. In this 5G context, a major concern is related to allocating shared resources for running applications through virtualization technologies (e.g., VM or container). Edge Computing (EC) and Network Slicing (NS) are crucial technologies that should be addressed to achieve efficient resource management on 5G, including extremely low latency, reduction on core network traffic, and delivery of real-time contextual information. These features meet the requirements of many time-critical applications, including IoHT applications, which may comprise high-quality video streaming, tactile Internet, virtual and augmented reality, computer vision and intelligent signal processing. Additionally, EC also enables IoHT services to analyze collected data and take actions close to data sources and consumers. A critical challenge therein is the application placement problem, which concerns where to place multiple applications over the EC infrastructure according to some constraints, requirements, and performance goals. The IoHT is, therefore, a challenging scenario wherein these technologies must coexist and collaborate in order to improve quality of health.<\/p><div class=\"bio\"><h3 class=\"nome\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5127\" src=\"https:\/\/csbc.sbc.org.br\/2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image001-e1653688957612.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"293\" \/><br \/>Dario Vieira<\/h3><h4 class=\"nome\">Efrei Paris Pantheon-Assas universit\u00e9<\/h4><p>Dario VIEIRA is an Associate Professor at Efrei Paris Pantheon-Assas universit\u00e9, where he leads a research group in computer networking, IoT and Edge\/cloud computing. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science from T\u00e9l\u00e9com SudParis in collaboration with Intel Research Lab in Cambridge &#8211; UK. His current research interests include IoT, Edge and Cloud Computing, blockchain, M2M networks and network protocol design and analysis. Dr. Vieira has authored or co-authored books, book chapters, international journal articles, and peer-reviewed conference\/workshop papers. He has been a TPC member in many international conferences and workshops, and he has coordinated French and international projects. By way, he is a Brazilian, born in Ilh\u00e9us, Bahia, graduated in Computer Science at Federal University of Vi\u00e7osa, with a Master degree in Computer Science from State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), before starting his journey in France, where he keeps collaborating with many universities in Brazil, North and South America and Europe.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"bio\"><h3 class=\"nome\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5127\" src=\"https:\/\/csbc.sbc.org.br\/2022\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Foto-Miguel-UFC.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"293\" \/><br \/>Miguel Franklin de Castro<\/h3><h4 class=\"nome\">Universidade Federal do Cear\u00e1<\/h4><p>Miguel Franklin de Castro received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science from the Federal University of Cear\u00e1 (1996 and 1999, respectively), Ph.D. in Computer Science from the T\u00e9l\u00e9com SudParis Institute (formely Institut National des T\u00e9l\u00e9communications), France, in 2004. Postdoctoral researcher on the IST MAGNET (My Personal Adaptive Global NET) European Project, in 2004\/2005, and on Federal University of Cear\u00e1, Brazil, in 2005. He is currently a Full Professor in the Computer Science Department of Federal University of Cear\u00e1, Brazil, acting on research and education on B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels. Para se construir o cen\u00e1rio visualizado de forma pioneira por Mark Weiser, no in\u00edcio dos anos 90, s\u00e3o necess\u00e1rios esfor\u00e7os de pesquisa multidisciplinares, envolvendo praticamente todas as \u00e1reas da Computa\u00e7\u00e3o: sistemas distribu\u00eddos, sistemas m\u00f3veis, redes de computadores, engenharia de software, entre outras.
